Default Getting back into GW, and completely lost.

Hey guys, as i've recently fell in love with gw2 i thought i might as well start up playing GW for my HoM. I only played back in prophecies around 2005 and finished the campaign then when Factions was released I played for about 1 month and quit. Now coming back to the game I am dumbfound on how much has changed. I managed to beat the Factions campaign last night and am currently working on buying EoTN first( for HoM) and then Nightfall if i wish.

My question is where should I be heading to go to end game content? Back in the day i used to farm UW and FoW with my guild and sometimes UW solo with my 55 monk but now I have no idea where to farm for decent items or even know where to aquire groups for that matter. I'm assuming that EoTN will eventually lead me to some better items when i aquire it but until then id like to get as much background info as I can.

Thanks in advance for answering my questions even if it is really messy.

P.S. I also have two bits of obsidian armor, is there now armor that is superior to that? Also im assuming that most of the gold weapons i pick up in factions/prophecies campaign i should just merch?

First the obsi, as you know all the armours from later in the campaign have the same stats, so you just get it for looks - apart from ranger I would say most other armours are superior to obsi on looks :P

you can see them all here

people are still farming UW and FOW and endgame of NF DOA for to fill their HoM.

EoTN has some PvE only skills that are a bit op, and their efficacy depends on teh title there so you may want to quest for the skills and max the titles

see the common skills listed here

There are still active guilds out there - I would find a nice a one and learn from them

Oh wow such a helpful community here . Thanks so much for the replies guys. I just figured out that you can't solo UW with a 55 monk anymore the hard way . The partys i also see lfm require you to give them 100 stones to join group, could someone tell me what these stones are?

P.S if any helpful guilds are recruiting that happen to see this thread please don't be afraid to give me a PM on Mathew Thorn

Those stones are summoning stones that drop from the uw end chest. They summon an ally that helps you fight. Many speedclear groups are asking to show how many stones you have and so to know how many times you have finished UW (though you can buy the stones from other players, so it isn't a waterproof system).

Speedclears are special teams with very specifick build that have optimised the way to finish e.g. underworld and kill the endboss (yip, UW has an endboss nowadays).

Ahh i see so im guessing there is probly no hope of me getting a group seeing how most are speed clears. Also is 55hp monk useful for any type of farming or is most of the decent items in DoA, U and FoW? Also what are the terms im seeing T1,T2,T3 etc

The T1 T2 etc are Assassins (or rangers/eles in some cases), terras, that are doing certain quests solo, using Shadow Form or Obsidian Flesh. Also theres no profit in 55ing nowadays, or farm for that matter, if u want fast money/items u should do Speed Clears. There are many guides on youtube for it... Sometimes non SC groups form in ToA, but filling a team takes time...

monks are lesser farmers nowadays. Speedclears are nice for making money, but not everyone's cup of tea. Other ways of making money is e.g.:

Feather farming: some builds can get a full stack of feathers in 40 minutes. They sell atm for 9k. so 9k in 40 minutes isn't bad (though you need to have a few salvage kits, so guess total profit is 8k).

55 hp builds are outdated. but there are some good monk farm builds. you should check out www.gwpvx.com.

Check out video's like speedclears, it's not my kind of game, but you might like it. When going for making money for your HoM, working on titles is a good way. Doing all missions in HM and NM and doing all vanguishes, should make you a nice amount of money to get a good boost for your HoM points.

Aye, I was gonna say, the daily Zaishen Quests can be a great source of income. Especially the PvP ones if you trade in the faction reward for Zaishen keys and sell them on.

just a point that without all the campaighns you could be and will be lacking vital skills for most sc roles see'ing as sc'ing powertrading and playing high end gvg are the only serios ways to make money in this game anymore and sc'ing is definatly the most accesible I suggest that yu buy all campaighns, make a mesmer(as it can be used in doa sc and dwg way uwsc and fowsc) take it through nf and eotn join some sc groups and see how you do good luck

You asked about armor -- dedicating different elite sets will earn you points in your Hall of Monuments. Obsidian, Vabbian (Nightfall) and either Elite Kurzick or Elite Luxon (Factions) count for unique points. Worth considering so you can save up the necessary materials.

lots of the most wanted skins are in eye...the Voltaic spear, Silverwing Recurve Bow and frog septer (from the top of my head)....so getting eye finished and doing some dungeons will help you possible get one of those---(check out Ventari's sell section HIGH end to see what is now wanted)
